Changed cab on my 68 today.
I finally got around to changing the cab on my 68 swb. The new cab is from a 72 but it is complete and in much better shape then the one I had. Everything went well but I still have a ton of work to make it a nice as I want it to be. Special thanks to my 9 year old, he thinks he is getting the truck someday so he loves to help out.

Looks to be coming along nicely! I assume that is the 72 cab?
How long did it take the both of you to complete the swap? Good job, Keith |

Re: Changed cab on my 68 today.
Thanks Keith. Yes that is the 72 cab that is on the truck in the pictures. I have alot more pictures but it would'nt download them all. It took us about 5 hours to do the swap but the old cab was just a shell so it came off real easy. Next project will be rockers, cab corners and a small kick panel repair.

Re: Changed cab on my 68 today.
Got another decent cab around there?
I'm in the process of removing the cab on my 69. I have everything off- even the doors. Basically a shell right now. My next step is to get the frame cleaned up, replace all the worn parts on it and paint it. Then it's on to find a decent cab that hasn't been cut up. I found out that most all of the ones I've seen have rust above the windshield where the drip edge sealant cracked and moisture got inside the top. Keep us posted on your progress... btw: It's great your 9 year old likes to help. Try to keep him interested because once they turn into teenagers it's a different story. From experience |

Re: Changed cab on my 68 today.
68gmsee I sent you a pm. I'll try my best and I know what you mean I have a 14 year old that has better things to do.
Tim, I am sure he would be smiling just as big if dad can make it happen. Time goes by alot faster than the truck gets done. Thanks
