1971 c30
I went to look at a welding machine this morning and it was sitting on a truck. They want to sell it all together. So I got to looking at the truck and it has a 10 foot steel bed, V8 auto and power brakes with less than 80K original miles. When I got looking at the body it is rust free as best I can tell and they said it was kept inside till 2 years ago when the owner passed away. I don't have room for the truck and was wondering what the market is for a truck like this. I am going to go back this afternoon and look at it a little better and see it run. They drive it around every couple of months and say it all works and runs fine.
Thanks Jimmy

Re: 1971 c30
Got a chance to see it run this afternoon and it runs pretty good. Was not able to get the welder running, its gonna need a new battery. Over all the truck is as clean as anything I have seen around here. Being this close to the ocean everything rust. Here are a couple of pics of it to get an idea of the condition. What kind of value would you guys put on the truck? I just don't know the 67 to 72's well enough to make a guess. I have a good idea on the welder.
Thanks Jimmy

Re: 1971 c30
Looks like a decent truck.Even the rockers and such look ok.I would give a guess at about $1500-2500 for the truck. You might have to wait a while to find the "Butt for that seat" in this economy.

Re: 1971 c30
even with the poor economy, I would say that getting 1500-2000 is not out of line. Everyone knows the times are hard but some will still have a little to spend in a down market. In fact some would not look for a truck when times were better cause they were up so much in price.

Re: 1971 c30
I hope to get to see the welder running tomorrow and burn a rod or two with it to make sure it is ok. If I do get the complete setup I plan to give the truck a good going over to make sure I can correctly tell folks what is there and sell the truck. I have to many projects now and really need to finish my 65. I talked with Dennis and his father in law kept this truck in the shop from day one. It is super clean for a work truck. I will keep yall posted on how it goes.
Thanks Jimmy

Re: 1971 c30
Well I bought it today and drove it home. Only a few miles but the first time it has been out the yard in 3 years. Truck has no rust I can find and is one owner and the odometer is on 71000. Did not get the welder running and did not argue the price after looking the truck over a little better. Gonna clean it up and get the welder off of it over the next week or so. I wish my 65 was this nice, would have been finished a long time ago.

Re: 1971 c30
I am going to try and get some help cleaning it up and checking it over good this week. I had rods and screws put in my back 6 weeks ago today and still not back up to speed. I will get pictures posted as soon as she gets a bath. I promise no more cell phone pics.

Re: 1971 c30
Started to clean it out today and did the glove box. As I continued the dates got earlier and earlier. Every registration from day one was in there. On the bottom was a couple of sales brochures, one for the truck and one for Chevy's new Vega. The owners manual, the warenty paper work with the protecto plate and the paper work where he transfered the tags from a 1956 Ford truck to this one. Kind of need to find all this stuff in perfect condition.

That's awesome, I saw my first protect-o-plate last week on a 67 GTO never seen one up close.

Re: 1971 c30
Got a chance to clean it up a little more today and its a nice day for pictures so I took some with something besides my phone. These show the condition much better and for those who have not seen the dealer paper work in one of these old trucks this one had the nicest of any old truck I have had.

Clean it up good, change all the fluids, and you're done. It'll only be original once.
Great find!

Re: 1971 c30
No luck on the welder so far. Gonna put a new battery in it tomorrow and replace a fuel line that is leaking now and see what happens. Progress is slow with my back. Gotta have help on everything. Do still plan to sell the truck. Never planned on buying it, just wanted to look at the welder.I was in such good shape I just thought it needed a good home and should be rescued. I planned on putting the welder on a trailer and letting a friend use it to try and build up a small welding business.
