Big Block Valve Adjustment: HOW?
I'm thinking my big block Chevy C20 needs the valves adjusted, I want to do them myself but I'm hesitant because I've only done small blocks before so I'll need some advice, any help is much appreciated!

Re: Big Block Valve Adjustment: HOW?
It's the same on a BB and SB and I'm assuming hydraulic lifters. I prefer the EOIC method. For me, it's the most accurate.

Re: Big Block Valve Adjustment: HOW?
It's the same method. If you've done Hydr lifters on a SB and your BB is Hydr, just do it the same way.

Re: Big Block Valve Adjustment: HOW?
Why do you think they need adjusted? Once is usually it for the life of the engine...

Re: Big Block Valve Adjustment: HOW?
I got the truck a month ago, it originally came with a SB and somewhere down the line somebody dropped a BB in it. I've had a BB before but this one just doesn't have the power it should, I've replaced the plugs, wires, rebuilt the Quadrajet and timed it but it still runs rough and hesitates taking off from a dead stop so my next guess was to adjust the valves. If that's not the problem then I will have at least eliminated the valves from the list of possible causes.

Re: Big Block Valve Adjustment: HOW?
Well, didn't adjust the valves but I did do a compression test, 6 cylinders had between 110lbs & 120lbs and the other 2 cylinders had around 90lbs. I know that's not good but would that small of an amount of compression loss make it idle rough and hesitate?
