steering wheel assembly for 1971 Chev pickup.
I have a restored 1971 1/2 ton Cheyenne, 2wd, four speed on the floor , tilt steering. The guy who built the truck put a GRANT steering wheel in it. classicparts.com says there was a deluxe and a standard steering wheel available for these trucks. He sells a standard wheel, but no mounting kit and says no one makes them yet. so, is there two steering wheels that came on this truck, and does anyone know where to get a NOS or reproduction steering wheel, horn button and its mounting kit also ? LMC has NO tech support, and did not know anything about what they sell. classicparts.com was $75 cheaper on the steering wheel which is nice, but can't supply the mounting kit as mentioned. Who has what I need ?

If you buy a replacement type wheel for your truck the hub will be made into the wheel so no need for a "kit"

To my knowledge there was just one type of wheel, the big bus sized 2 spoke.

One one steering wheel ever came in the 69-72 and that was the pickup sized wheel. Buses and other medium duties used the 67/68 style in a slightly larger diameter.

67/68 had a 3 spoke wheel
69 - 72 had a 2 spoke wheel. Other than color, they were all the same, no options. The closest to an optional wheel was the 67/68 had a fancy horn button on the CST trucks. |

Re: steering wheel assembly for 1971 Chev pickup.
If you have power steering, my personal preference is for a 67-69 Camaro Comfort Grip wheel. They are smaller than diameter than the truck wheel, and IMO, look better than the two bar wheel. Get one for a 67-68 car as the wheel adapter is closer to the truck column diameter than the 69 which is a little larger because of the steering lock mechanism.
