Looked At A Pretty Decent '67 Today

I went and looked at this today. All body work is done and from what I could see they did a nice job. No rust in the supports or cross sills. It just needs a few finishing touches and it will be ready to paint. The front end has been rebuilt and lowering springs added. Rear end was changed from 4:56 (was 6 cyl/three on the tree) to 3:73 and lowering springs added. It has a few custom touches like louvered hood, front rolled pan, rear rolled pan, frenched tail lights, widened wheel tubs, and a couple of other small things. It has been sitting in this spot since he moved here from New Mexico in 1982. He has quite a few NOS GM parts for it and it comes with a '79 454 engine. Now I know that the later 454's aren't the most desirable but the engine looks good. It also comes with a pair of new 14" wide, 70 series, 15 " tires.

This thing is really stuffed into the back corner of his garage and was hard to see. I couldn't get to the rear or passengers side at all.

Those panels are hard to come by, especially the 67' if the price is right go for it, it looks decent.

I know they are hard to find. I've been looking for one for a long time. I think he's a little high on it at $5000 but it does have a lot going for it. I may make him an offer on it. What do you guys think? I know it's not a lot to go on but it's all I have for now. Thanks.

It's hard to put a price on a truck like that because I've never seen one for sale. If you've been looking for one, consider when you'll run across another. Considering all the extras and the condition, it's probably worth that. If you find one for $2500, you can bet it will need more than $2500 to get it to this condition.

That's what I'm thinking, and to find one half way decent I would probably have to travel to the Southwest or buy one down there and have it shipped to Iowa... Decisions, decisions...

Someday Ill put mine together. Its been home for probably close to two years. All painted and ready to assemble. I keep waiting to win lotto so I can pay Livrat to build it for me ... man he does nice work.

Too bad the roll pan is welded in.... I would get it out and make sure the mods are something you can live with as it may cost you more to "demodify" what has previously been done. all depends on what you want to end up with.

For $5000 that truck would already be on my trailer Provided it is in as good a shape as it appears. Bodywork is expensive and those panels are incredibly hard to find.

For the shape its in and what has been done $5k sounds okay, but it couldn't hurt to try for $3500-$4000 and see what happens.
Even though they are rare there is not a real big following, selling them does take some time and effort, I recently sold this one for $6500, It was in high build primer ready for paint, Small block 400, tach,tilt,PDB, finished interior.

Now,I agree it's rare and in real great condition. The mods are cool enough I'd just go with that direction. If it's got about all you need in parts it may be worth that,but I think more like $4,000 and that's considering all the above. If you bail on a project the benefit goes to the one willing to complete it. There are guys in the business of buying abandoned projects,getting them to drivable state,and selling. A running driving vehicle is multiples more salable. The 454 is cool,but how long sitting and who knows the condition. If he's had it since before '82 it wouldn't have huge miles on it,but still,all that time sitting and how dry did it stay? The Panel with nothing else could bring almost what the package would. What N.O.S. does it come with anyway?

Thanks for all of the input guys. I really don't have a problem with the mods. They are tasteful and well done. I do have two complete '67 front clips if I want to change it. He pulled the motor out of a truck that his wife was driving and it got hit in the side 3 years ago. I would probably freshen up the engine anyway and bolt my 5 speed OD trans to it.

He couldn't remember what all he had as far as new stuff. but he was sure he had new GM gaskets, felts, seals and trim parts for all of the glass and doors. New grill trim and headlight bezels. He said he would have to unpack all of the stuff from inside the truck to be sure. Oh, it also has a Gear Vendors overdrive unit, forgot about that. I may offer to trade him my Red/White '70 for it and see what he says...

Rare is the word. I'm thinking with what I see 2500 for the truck would be a good starting point. Then add in what extra's in NOS that is included. If it's been hidding in the shelter from the enviroment since the early 80's it could be a gold mine considering how few are available.

Well alright,there ya go. That Gear Vendors shifts the field a bit. I was goig to say that louvered hood is worth $2,000 . I have one,bought another for comparison early this summer,ended up liking the one I've had better (louver pattern),and sold it.I like them. You don't just buy them and ,as you know,they are a blast from the past like tuck'n'roll or chromed pieces...just a custom touch from back when you didn't buy everything to make a hot rod. As much as I like how these trucks left the factory,I think the Panels lend themselves to the customizing side like none other. That's always where old panels have fit in with the car scene. At least it doesn't have a sunroof cut into it and heart shaped bubble windows (does it?). Those are all mild custom touches and I can think of just how useful that thing could be for a go to the runs vehicle. If you can make an offset in the price with working a trade,all the better. Now I'm curious to see how/if this pans out.

They are rare. There has been one here on the local C/L for a decent price (IMO, anyways) for about a year now, so I agree that they have a smaller following than other body styles.

Leon, I say buy it for sure, especially with the GV. You could sell that and recoop some back if you really wanted to. But it would be a lot more use ful on a project. Try to work him over but, heck who am I kidding? You're the king of working over, you'll be just fine! Just think how cool it would be to finish this panel and then tow the green one behind it or even any of your rides. Plenty of space for all of your stuff while traveling on trips. If nothing else, buy it and then make Art buy it so he can build it as a parts hauler.

With the GV,the $5000 is probably a good starting point.Just be sure the new stuff is NOS and not GM licensed repop.That could be a bargaining chip.$2500-5000 seems to be the price range on Panels depending on condition.Check the back doors for dents(where they hit the body corners) and the panels behind and the rear wheelwells.

I saw a K code one in a wrecking yard a while back.It was trashed,but it did have the teardrop portholes and was Pepto Bismol Pink.

For what its worth, i just installed a gear vendor in a customers car and saw the invoice for 2800.00 before shipping and labor.

Lay 3500 on the table and tell him you'll be there tomorrow to pick it up Looks like a pretty solid truck. All the lines look good and straight and.what's left in the interior would look good wit some elbow grease. May have cut holes in the doors for speakers? Good luck
