Re: 16 inch rims ?

isn't there an issue with the center hole hub opening on those wheels? Too small or too big or something? I don't know, just asking - seems like I read that somewhere - appreciate anyone's insight on that...

Re: 16 inch rims ?

Yes that is correct. Those '88-'98 6 lug wheels have a 3.06" diameter center register hole. These older trucks have hubs and axle registers that measure aprox 3.5" diameter. Those newer wheels also have a deep backspacing.

Re: 16 inch rims ?

This is an original 16" wheel for our series.

I widened mine to 9 1/2".

Stock steel 16" off 70's truck on the front. 17.5" converted to 17" on the rear.

Re: 16 inch rims ?

Well I talked to a guy whose been around wheels and tires all his life. The only issue you might come across is air leakage through the rivets that hold the center section to the ring. You might paint the inside of the wheel rivets to seal them. The Air Valve will have to have the larger diameter base so it will seal in the valve opening. Your wheels are the same as the white wheel picture above.

Re: 16 inch rims ?

I thought they stopped making the wheels with the clips on the inside back in the 50's and went to the wheels with the outside "nubs" to hold the hubcap on? I could (probably) be wrong. But back to the original question, I used a set of those wheels on a 64 i had years ago and with radial tires and never had any problem with them leaking at all. Drove the truck like that for about 10 years.

Re: 16 inch rims ?

Zombie thread alert

I had a 65 burb that came with 16in clip rims that looked to be original. I noticed that my new 66 K10 burb the 16in rim was an option. Were the clip rims (same as the ones shown above) correct for a 66 k10?

thanks

Re: 16 inch rims ?

Juan, I'd like to have your old rims and tires when you switch over, if you want to get rid of them.

I have a '66 Custom Camper too.
