What do these marks mean?

So the other day I was working on my truck and wiped some of the engine gunk off the passenger side of the block, on the front near my water pump and discovered letters and numbers in this exact sequence: top row: 1M0106 Bottom Row: 8VP. So what do these mean?

Re: What do these marks mean?

one is a partial of the vin of the original vehicle. The other is a suffix code for the engine which indicates: 4 speed/auto/4 barrel/hp rating/car or truck
