Steering inspection

I have my front end apart on my truck, figured I would take a look at the steering before I put it back together. The pitman arm is tight without play, the idler rotates on its arc easily but has no other play in it. The tie rod ends are a little easier to move by hand, but they aren't soft. I had no issues with steering before. How easily should I be able to move the tie rod end with it separated?

Also, the rag joint is due for replacement. I'm not having much luck finding them at the parts store. Is there universal kit that works?

Thanks
AW

Re: Steering inspection

I thought someone had posted up a flaming river u-joint that was a better replacement for the rag joint.
