Finished my interior...

When I got my truck it had an all black interior with a pretty ratty black houndstooth seat cover. I found out later it came with a Parchment interior when new.

I wanted to go back to (kind of) original but Parchment is way too light for someone as sloppy as me. I settled on a vinyl somewhere between parchment and saddle. I also went with vinyl floor mats for the original theme and because of that whole being sloppy thing.

The seat cushions were sculpted to form kind of bucket areas. The bucket parts are upholstered in perforated vinyl, everything is is smooth vinyl. Door panels, arm rests, dash pad and visors were all done in the smooth vinyl.

Steering column and (repop) steering wheel were painted with SEM saddle paint. BTW: The repop wheel is a real disappointment - very light and flimsy. It feels like I could break it when I pull on it to climb aboard. I may look for an original one and make a project of restoring it.
Here are a couple pics:

Looks great. I will agree that the aftermarket repop steering wheels are garbage. They are flimsy compared to the genuine article!!!

Re: Finished my interior...

X2 on the crappy steering wheels. I bought one and promptly sold it. It wasn't worth putting in my truck.

Re: Finished my interior...

Thanks for the compliments guys. All the work was done custom by a local guy. He had an upholstery shop in Jamaica and just moved here pretty recently. I saw some of his work around the area and liked it. His price was a deal "I couldn't refuse".

I never realized how much I used the steering wheel to help climb into the truck until I put this piece of crap in. It seriously feels like it could break. My old steering wheel came out of an older Nova is rock solid. I may end up putting it back in.

Thanks. I haven't had enough time using the truck to determine that yet. I bought an extra can of paint anticipating it would need touch ups every now and then. I might use the old wheel for regular driving and just use this one for shows and stuff.

Re: Finished my interior...

Is that the original seat frame? Did he have to do anything to the springs or frame to get that look?

It's the original frame, springs and foam cushions which were all in good shape and comfortable. He glued the additional sculpted foam right onto the existing foam and then upholstered over that. They are VERY comfortable now.

It was done by a local shop. Pretty far - about 6 hours from Buffalo.
