Have any of you heard of a truck buying scam? I received an email from a "Joel Holoway" from west Africa who has an excite .com address. He is (supposedly) interested in my Blazer for sale,referred himself as a car broker, says he will send a cashier's check via western union, but says a client that owes him money will be paying and wants my address. Won't give me his shipper's name or address yet either. Pretty fishy to me.Too many suspicious notations. Haven't replied as I thought I read something like this on here awhile ago. Anyone remember? i went round and round with some guy from south africa that was trying to "give" me some money. in return for a us bank account to transfer a large amount of $ to. I wan't ever going to do it, but i felt like F'in with him seeing I got my work email some how, that is not disclosed outside of the Co.

This sounds similar, and don't know if I would trust it. Also wouldn't you figure someone in West Africa would want a 4X4 as it would be more useful to them??

im amazed by how many people have to ask if things like this are real. i know you guys can see easy. but i do have some people i know, ask me about a few simlar scams. they wanted to know if i thought i could be real..... i just want to slap people sometimes...

these are the same people who actualy buy what dickheads calling on the phone all the time are selling. or the door to door bastards... ugh!

I'm not that gullible , knew right away something wasn't right, just would like to know if someone had a similar experience, or if I should send this on to the Public Service Comm or authorities, or if anyone had heard of this guy.

Good thing to be questionable.

Any time someone want's a bank account number it should be questionable.

Friend of mine said that kind of thing happened to him once. What he did was go to a differnt bank and open an account to use. In is case it turned out good.

But there's account info entered that could lead people to his other accounts.

There are other ways to send the money.

Just tell him to send it to the nearby(not nearest) Western Union and you will pick it up.Then forget about him and keep the $$$. This should disuade him from his scam.

Lots of scams coming out of Africa, if he doesn't want to provide info for you to thoroughly check him out, I'd call the local FBI office, they're probably looking for him anyway.
