71 3 speed column??

I have a quick question. My truck was originally a 3 speed manual truck and I am putting a th350 in it. I wanna know if I can use the 3 speed column to actuate the linkage on the turbo 350??

Thanks.. Cant afford a tilt yet but I would love to find one as I am a big guy. So no one has converted one and what is the difference between a manual and auto column??

The shifter tube on the auto has one lever that moves the linkage whereas the manual colomn has two levers that has a "ramp" [for the loss of a better word] that is between the two levers that work the linkages . Stand at the front edge of your truck and have someone work thru the gears and you will see what I mean by it not working. The auto almost has an up and down motion and the stick has a radial one

Find a stock auto column.They're not expensive and fairly common.Then search on the site and do the shortened column mod.You'll gain some room for Big Guy's and have a shifter that works correctly.Here's a link.
