Looking good! Put some miles on it before you finish it out to make sure it's not going to hit the springs.

Re: flush side exhaust done (almost)

i think a exhaust flex coupler would be needed..that way you can solid mount tha pipe to tha bed side & not have to worry about it rattling. it looks good sofar

there are a few things i would do differently if i did do it again, the springs are about an inch and a half away and the closer to the ends the less movment on the springs
right now the e brake bracket was the problem as it is directly in the way on the driverside

there are no rattling problems whatsoever however you may notice i have drop hangers on my truck so im unsure of whether this will work with stock hangers and a flip kit with caltracs, i would be pretty bummed if they dont work then.
so a flex pipe and maybe have a quarter inch bigger hole and mount the pipe with a hanger to the fenderwell would be my next fixes when done again, the routing of the otherside just looks horrible and cobbled together lol

do they even make 3'' flex joints

Re: flush side exhaust done (almost)

you don't have to mount it @ tha tip...you could mount it after tha header & solid mount the rest of tha exhaust...you going to flush em or leave a lil sticking out?..

Re: flush side exhaust done (almost)

very happy with the sound! those spintechs sound like nothing else im having a tough time finding a camera that can capture the essence of the sound

and pops im going to come to it with a grinder and flush them then put an aluminum plate around it to protect the paint and such so everything doesnt go all sooty black as for the flex pipe im going to mount it between the mufflers and bed exit so the bed and frame can flex independantly of the system, also makes it easier to mount the system so you dont have to be uber precise on the bends

Re: flush side exhaust done (almost)

finished! this goes on record that I have not seen or known anybody to have this on a square body, and hereby attest that I am the first and only to have flush side exhaust on a 73-87 as of 11/24/11 turkey!

Re: flush side exhaust done (almost)

All looks good except for the way the exhaust is exposed in the wheel well area. That would be enough to deter me from doing it.

Good work on it though

Re: flush side exhaust done (almost)

How does it ride that close to the springs? I would crush that pipe by the first heavy load i'd move.

I would be up for that, only issue is that this system can only work the way I did it with drop shackles and hangers, with the stock rear leaf it would have to go through frame, wich i will do to mine someday when I go to lower it the right way

as for clearance and driving with a load the leaf springs are an inch away and after jumping my truck over the train tracks and catching air a couple times, it rubbed but didnt even disturb the pipes, the only way the touch remotely is when you jack the truck up

That thing sounds beautiful! I might be adding spintechs to the list of mufflers to look into when I get an exhaust on mine.
