Unhappy Engine Identification

Hi Guys, please help, I'm not clued up with engines. I bought a 1965 Chevy C10 Fleetside. Someone told me that it has a 3.8L engine in. So I made peace with it. Last night I saw an advert on Gumtree of a C20 that someone are selling and the specs are that this truck have a 4.1L engine. On the pics it looks the same as mine, no difference. Ass far as I know you can tell the two appart. So on my truck's identification plate are the following, if it means anything: 65/c1400/B8-238290, vehicle weight 5000LBS, Front axle max. capacity 2500LBS, Rear axle max. capacity 3500LBS.

Re: Engine Identification

194/230/250 inline 6 are the same looking motors. The motor mounts are directly apposing each other. Fuel pump is beside the distributor. The lifter inspection covers on the passenger side of the engine are about 4" tall.

292 inline 6 cylinder, the passenger side motor mount is set further forwards, between the fuel pump and distributor. The lifter inspection covers are about 6 inches tall. The picture below is a 292.

Re: Engine Identification

There should be a flat surface just behind the distributor with numbers and letters on it. If you post them someone should be able to help you.

I once had a '65 swb stepper and on the air cleaner it listed it as a 235.
