How to fix scratches on door panels
I have these scratches on my door panels and i was wondering how can they be fixed. I was thinking of priming them and paint them but won't the primer cover its grainy texture. any ideas?
Thanks, Jesse |

Re: How to fix scratches on door panels
I have the same thing. It all depends on how nice you want the finished product to look. My door panels were scratched but also covered in a lot of dried on crud - dirt and grease. I sanded the panels down with wet sanding paper and then put 3 coats of SEM paint on them. You will definitely loose the factory textured look of the panels, but the surface will be uniform. My old beater was not worth $250-$350 in new door panels. If you want a real nice factory like textured vinyl you will have to buy new panels. SEM paint was about $14 for one rattle can which would cover both panels with 3-4 coats. SEM paint will scratch off on the driver's side armrest when you let the seat belt snap back into the holder like I do, but you can just touch it up once a year for zero $ cost - or don't let the belt snap back.
