Like I need another hole in my head...
Actually, I do need another hole in my head. I want to run a serpentine set up off of a '92 that I parted, but my head doesn't have this hole drilled. Can I run the set up without using this bolt or will it compromise the strength of the set up. There's a brace that runs back on the top to an intake bolt. Will that be enough. Looking for any input. Thanks.

Re: Like I need another hole in my head...
I did some research on this subject and, as usual, there are two distinct schools of thought. One says you "must drill, tap, and use the bolt into the head". Others say you don't really need to do the additional work just to get that bolt. From what I have read, it's the opinion of a lot of folks that the serpentine belt system is, typical of most manufacturing, somewhat "overbuilt" and the lack of this bolt isn't going to present any problems.
I have a serpentine system I'm planning to use on a SB and if the bolt hole isn't preexisting I don't plan to add it!

What's stopping you from trying it without the bolt? Worst that could happen is it vibrates... and then you'd know you have to drill and tap.

Just trying to be smart about it. Measure twice, cut once kind of thing. If no one says it absolutely won't work that way, I'm going to try it.
