California Desert Truck 68c10
Hi Guys..been a while since i posted here...i built my last 68 and sold it last year for down on my new house...Yesterday I found another 68...not a cst truck with a/c, p/s, pb etc. like my old one...but this does have custom badges on the upper doors.(still trying to figure out diff between custom and cts....) anyhow..I found this from the original old man who bought it new in 68 from our local chevy dealer..never been out of the mojave desert in so cal.. so almost no rust except in bottom of truck bed where water was..didnt go thew or anything and no rust on usual places like rockers and cab corners at all...
Ordered corvette rally's and rings today...trying to figure out what size tire to run...15x? ...gona leave the original 6 and 4 speed in it for now as it runs perfect and drives down road quite nice... has big ugly rear bumper that i'll soon rfeplace with nice chrome one...need a rearview mirro..and gonna take off big trailer mirros and replace regular arm type with round mirrors.....Has a/c..(dealer installed unit uner dash.....no power steering (steers quite easy)..no brake booster (stops quite good tho)... Hope you guys can help me out as i try to make it look better to get it road wortthy for cruisin around here...eventually i'd like to restore it completely like my other 68...but who knows...i'm just glad to have another 68 in my garage for now! Oh if anyone wants the wheels on it..they're in great shape..they are 16's six lug with big tires (tires no good)..they all have the nice center caps..just not my style...... |

Re: California Desert Truck 68c10
I still wish I could buy your engine Kevin. Maybe we could meet halfway, like Turlock. That truck is even nicer than you described on the phone. I wish my 68 had the lower molding. Oh well it will someday.

Re: California Desert Truck 68c10
Wow! those wheels look fantastic, that was a great choice, maybe lowering the front a hair? maybe not?

Re: California Desert Truck 68c10
6 lug Corvette wheels??? I've never seen those
I have a 67 and 68, both inop for now, will never drive either without front disc drakes!!! Nice pickup, you did good!!! I wouldn't lower it much, 2" drop spindles in front, and 2" spacer blocks for rear would bw max, I'm an old timer, slamm'n them to the ground isn't my deal... One of those pickups w/o rusty rockers, is rare. When ever I see one w/ good rockers, I KNOW the rockers have been replaced...LOL...I and don't even live in the rust belt... |
