Re: Spectre Hose Installation
The hose covering works like a Chinese handcuff. Take the metal material and slide a long tapered bar into it to open it up and then push it together like an accordian, to get the material to swell to a larger diameter than the hose. Once on the hose, then just slide your hand from the center to the end, stretching the material out.

Re: Spectre Hose Installation
You could always try soaking it in hot water to soften the rubber hose. If that doesn't work, I'd try an exhaust pipe expansion tool. Just be careful that you don't expand it too much.

Re: Spectre Hose Installation
The material will expand if you work it slowly. The whole principal is to open the covering up before you try to put it over a hose. Warming the hose will not really help, you want it stiff enough to feed it through the Spectre covering.

Re: Spectre Hose Installation
They sell both the sleeves, and the hose with cover. From the wording of his question, I'm assuming that he's using the latter.

Re: Spectre Hose Installation
I just cut a bunch of that junk off and threw it away. It looks awful when the ends start to fray, and the fake fittings fall off.

Re: Spectre Hose Installation
Thanks to everyone that replied, I installed both of then today. Had an old gentleman tell me to put some lacquer thinner on the rubber and then slide it onto the fittings, worked great.
