Clean/strip my frame??

I have my frame stripped of all extraneous pieces and I am ready to clean and prep it for paint. The truck is going to be a driver, so I am going to spray bomb it in my garage with primer and satin black. It has a little surface rust but nothing too bad. I have heard of people using oven cleaner, but have never tried it. I have used a wire wheel on another frame I have, but that... well... it sucks. So, what have you all done, short of taking it to a blaster, that worked well?

wire wheel is a good start, it will break up all that loose stuff, I'd use POR marine clean, works good, no residue, and biodegradable

I used oven cleaner on mine and it worked pretty good. The dollar store stuff is cheap (a dollar), contains Sodium Hydroxide (LYE) and works well on grease. The Easy-Off brand is pretty wicked, will remove paint, contains Methylene Cloride (the same stuff that's in paint stripper) and costs about $7 a can. The problem I found was getting the goo out of the hard to reach areas (around rivet heads and such), even with a pressure washer. You have to be careful where you wash the stuff off at, it kills plants (my lawn) and other living things and your local government officials my not like it if you wash it down the gutter.

i used a combination of oven cleaner,degreaser and a water blaster but i also had to scrap alot with a paint scraper where it was stuck on real thick- unfortunately theres no easy way around it if you want to save on sandblasting/or dipping costs.like has been said already-around the rivits and inside the chassis rails where the crossmembers go is the hardest.
