Beater, decent runner or show stopper

After seeing all these "what did yo do to you truck today" and "show your truck off" threads. I wondered how many of you drive beaters or decent driver. or complete show stopper.

Re: Beater, decent runner or show stopper

Love to have a "show stopper WOW" unit but all I have is a mechanically brand new with updated interior and as many period options that were available on my "daily driver. I have thought about having the following:
All the same year 68-72
All painted and outfitted the same( as much as possible-all loaded with all the goodies)

A 4x4 K20 pickup,
A swb bad to the bone show truck
A Suburban-loaded( cruisn with the grandkids)
A ramp truck to haul my 67 Camaro to shows

and my current 69 c-20 for the daily stuff

.............and a "less than 10,000 original mile blazer that has been in climate controled storage all it's life, a "10" then drive it till it's a 8

Re: Beater, decent runner or show stopper

My 68 is my show truck and it doesn't get driven a whole lot.

My 69 is a beater that I've been daily driving.

Re: Beater, decent runner or show stopper

I think of mine as a decent, beater driver. It's my go to truck for all my nasty hauling jobs. If there was ever a truck show for beaters, I've got a trophy winner.

Re: Beater, decent runner or show stopper

Mine is somewhere between DD, & show stopper. It's a 20 footer I guess. I have had Show stoppers in the past, and was scared to drive them. I built this one to enjoy, and not worry if it gets dinged in a parking lot. It's a 4x4, and will see some dirt in it's day, but far from a hauler. Insurance wont let me DD it, but on the weekends, Game On!

I like thinking of mine as a good running beater drivable project. It has a little off every year on it (some parts not so little).

Re: Beater, decent runner or show stopper

Right now all I have is an original unrestored well optioned survivor that I drive everyday like it was just a truck. These kind of questions always seem aimed as if it's your only truck and right now. I've driven these trucks all my life in every shape and form.Even used to have trucks too nice to drive. Won some shows, had some coverage, raced some, worked out of some, camped out of others, hauled my other trucks with them, four wheeled them...you name it. And,I'm not done yet.

Mine is just a clean driver that I can drive and make cleaner. Love to make it a show truck but then I would afraid to drive it. Worked it a little this week.

WOW you guys blew me away. When I say beater you hear very good Daily driver, when I say daily driver you hear show stopper and when you guys hear show stopper you really mean it. I still have not seen a rusted out truck yet (except the one I consider getting for a project).

Re: Beater, decent runner or show stopper

I am too rough on mine to be a show stopper, I park it in the garage but i will accidentally scrape the rivets on my jeans pockets along the side, or I will drop the socket while changing the plugs. I wouldn't get any sleep if it was a show stopper.

But I am fixing the engine bay up so I can at least feel good about raising the hood when I do go to shows
