Steering wheels

..I sure would appreciate seeing some steering wheels yall chose to put on your 67-72 Chevy's and GMC's...
I bought a Grant 3-spoke 13-1/2" first part of the year when we started restoring my 72 C10..We just mounted it the other day and I DON'T LIKE IT!
It's too small to suit me ,,and the guy doing the building..
Summit's not far from me so I'll go there and look at some 14-1/2 to 15"..but I've learn they bring on a different look when mounted..so..could yall share some pics of your steering wheels? Please give the size and name

I find stock ones to be the best looking and most functional.

Especially when you have manual steering.

Have you saw the old three spoke camaro/corvette/chevelle/olds/buick comfort grips in one of our trucks....I think they look great and they are reproduced if you cant find an original...I know that the truck shop in Tennessee its Jerry Browns business...has some on his website to show look and there was a thread at one time with some in it...they are 15 inches I think

I have a Le Carra on my truck and really like the way the wheel feels in my hands and also that it goes with the black, white and chrome in the truck. The wheel in the first pic was on the truck when I bought and the second is one of the 88/98 wheels which I really like but the Le Carra is first class. My Le Carra was under the tree one Christmas morning and the boys at Summit Racing really helped Mama Clause getting the right one to fit the truck.

I like the original wheels,OEM wheels swapped out of cars,88-up truck sport wheels...it seems the factory made enough choices for me. I like other custom wheels,but to me,the steering wheel is the center piece of the interior. If I used a custom wheel the entire interior would have to follow that style. I have a wheel like Fast Willie's in my stash. I figure period custom wheels look good tossed into a stock interior cuz that's what we did in that "period". My biggest hang up is finding a horn button for an OEM wheel for my GMC. I wish someone would make one to work with the comfort grip sport wheels,like shown above in blue. Right now I settle for Pontiac,Olds,or Buick horn buttons.

My factory steering wheel in my truck was shot when I bought it. So one of the first things I did was replace it the 89-98 style. Woodright was correct. I bought it on eBay for about $35. The second photo is what I would really like to have, but I'm too cheap to pay what people are asking.

I like this second wheel except for the "ss" center..where would I look up that one?..don't look like a grant..

Jim-bob, those steering wheels came out factory in 79-80 Camaros, i'm sure they came out it other cars as well. I pulled a tan wheel like this out of a 79 camaro i had out back and put it in my dads 70 Chevelle. It looks good in there, but a word of advice, leave it out of the sun! If you leave them in the sun for a long period of time they get extremely sticky. I think chemicals or something they are made out of must leach out of them in the sun and heat. I guess if you kept it cleaned and conditioned it would be alright though. Joseph

To broaden your wrecking yard search, Chevy Vega GT also used the same wheel, bolts right on to our trucks!

That's just a photo I found somewhere -- probably eBay. Chevy put those in bunch of different cars -- Camaros, Chevelles, Monte Carlos, even Vegas -- in the 70s and early 80s, so if you don't like the SS center there are other options. There's usually a few on eBay at any given time.

That SS center emblem is rare and I have not seen it reproduced. Bowties are the most common but I have one that says Chevette that is really valuable.

Special-K ever tried using a wheel center cap emblem in the middle of the buick center caps? My buddy did on his and it looks good and says GMC...found it at a swap meet where a guy had a bunch of those thick decals for wheel center caps...looks pretty good

I just sold one of the later camaro wheels at a swap meet for five bucks...I like the way they feel just don't think they have the classic appearance of others. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I just feel that if you don't go original it should look like it could have been...guess I'm just old school

The other day, I saw a post on this board from a guy who used a 70s era Olds 442 four-spoke wheel. Not sure what you'd do about the center cap emblem, but I've not had much luck finding one, so haven't worried about that yet.
