Door shell identification help requested
I scored these new door shells today on c-list for my '68 project and am curious if there's a way to identify the brand (i.e. Goodmark, LMC, etc).
Any help would be appreciated. thanks everyone and happy new year! |

Re: Door shell identification help requested
Think I may have answered my question. I just found this response in a 2006 thread asking about LMC versus Goodmark doors. Let me know if this doesn't still hold true. If it does hold true, I see no reason why anyone would buy the more expensive ones - Thanks!

I think you will soon find out why they were not use by the guy that sold them to you. Good luck with them fitting. Seriously, they are 1/4 too long on the inside which makes them hit the outer rocker at the bottom of the door.

Re: Door shell identification help requested
I gave mine away. They came with a project I was working on, they were brand new and freshly painted. Unfortunately the guy I got the project cab from spent 1100.00 for doors and paint. They just never fit right, I can't say never but alot don't fit right.

Re: Door shell identification help requested
Well im just talking to a guy on Ebay about the doors he is selling for our trucks, I asked him if they were Triplus or Goodmark? and he said that they're all made by Triplus, for Goodmark, LMC and all the rest....so what this guy and GMCPaul are saying must be correct!

Re: Door shell identification help requested
Actually Tim Christian stated a while back that there were now a couple of manufacturer's doing doors for our trucks, and one was much better than the others. I can't find the thread now, but you might PM Tim and ask about what doors are out there and which ones are good

Re: Door shell identification help requested
I couldnt find a good oe driver door for my kids 67 anywhere when i built that truck. then at a swap meet we got a repop cheap(72 door I guess) boy it was cheap for a reason holey cow it took me weeks to get that door too work an fit right.
on that door the outer skin wasnt welded to the inner structure good thing too cause I had too twist, pry, pound and tweak it too fit right then i put a few small tacs around the crimped edges to hold it in place. I hope they get these doors sorted out it would be nice. oh and another thing is if you grab the outer handle just right and yank without pushing the button you can get the door skin too oilcan

Re: Door shell identification help requested
We at Key Parts are now carrying a door made my APEX they do actually weigh more than the other two doors on the market and we have now sold over two hundred pair and only had complaints from one dealer and there customer had already painted the doors so I heard but did not get to see first hand what the complaint actually was.
