Just joined the forum and wanted to say hello! I have a 1962 chevy step side that was a barn find with 46000 miles. I am currently in the process of restoring the truck. Here is a picture of the truck.

Outstanding, welcome to the forum! Be sure to take lots of pictures as you go, you'll be thankful years from now when it's completely finished. Too many of us start modifying right away and discover much later there aren't any "before" pictures.

46,000! Are you kidding me? Nice! I have a '66 Stepside that was originally from Gonzales, TX. My father shipped it out West to SoCal for me. He was the 2nd owner and I am restoring it now. Welcome to the site!

Re: New Member
Welcome to the forum
When you say you are 'restoring' the truck, are you building it to original specs, or are there going to be some upgrades?

Re: New Member
Thanks for the welcome. I found this truck on Cregslist for $1000. I have been wanting a 60s truck for a long time. I have put it off because of moving around in the Army. I had a 66 in High School that I found in a field. With a little work I painted and re did the engine. MY plans are to go original with a little modification. The engine runs strong so I am re painting it and going to use it. I want to add another carb to have the duel set up. I will keep the Brigade Blue paint and add black or gray interior. For wheels I will either do torque thrust or old smoothies. After I get her cleaned and painted up then I will go for a small block with auto.
The truck is apart right now. I am cleaning the the whole truck. It has been setting for 30 yrs in a barn that all kinds of animals made a home in it. So to get it cleaned I ad to take it apart. I hope to have the engine painted this weekend! Does anybody know where to find a 62 grill? Mine is dented bad and I want a new one and looked and all I find is 64-66. Thanks for your support! |
