Cab Lifting with doors on

Has anyone lifted their cab off with the doors on using the engine hoist method. I really don't want to take my doors off because it is too hard to get the power window wires back out. Just wonder if anyone has done it this way and if it messed anything up.

Re: Cab Lifting with doors on

you would have to make a big arm to ad to the crane that meets in the middle of the cab to go over the top and it would need to have a real good arch.. The only other option is to do it with the door open, maybe undo the limiting strap so it opens wider...

Re: Cab Lifting with doors on

I would do it with the doors slightly opened. Use a 4 x 4 wooden post, with grooves cut to accept the upper front door opening where the A pillar meets the roof. There are threads on here about that, and it is how I lift mine (but I did have the doors OFF). Too leave the doors on, just cut the post to the shortest length possible so the doors don't have to open to far.

You can lift from the bottom of the post by sticking the crane arm in through a window, OR, put an anchor in each end of the post and lift from above with a strap or chain.

You could try to jack it up and blocking it. Then roll the frame out from under it.. (assuming it has wheels on it at this point) A couple of saw horses and 2X6's ought to work nicely....

I have most of these idea's. I just wanted to know if anyone did it with the doors on and did they get damaged.
Ufortunatly my friends don't drink beer.. I can feed them pizza though...
