Re: What did you get done 1/15/12 edition
Start out Saturday at the U-Pull it again. Got a rim for a spare that i never had. Radiator Over Flow Tank, Window Washer Tank with Motor. and the Stainless Trim piece at the bottom of the door. Installed the Two tanks and work on glassing the speaker box's since it was getting late.
Sunday started with a trip to the parts house. new Back Brakes, new Wheel Cylinders, New Axle Bearings, and New Axle Seals. Rented the Axles puller and Slide Hammer. Took Pretty much all day with the mishaps along the way. All is back together now.

Re: What did you get done 1/15/12 edition
Tore the dash down for the second time this month (two weeks ago cleaned and refurb'd cluster; all new bulbs, swapped C-H Temp gauge for one with numbers and L-H Oil Press gauge for numbered). Today I was focused on the radio. I had the analog AM/FM deck that hasn't worked for about 9 months now. Now I've got an oem digital am/fm/cass deck out of an '88 Suburban. Had to install and route the extra power harness that the new radio required, in doing so I had to add a terminal to my headlamp switch connector. I ended up having to pry the connector off of the switch due to a partially melted connector body. At some point there was a short in the highbeams and the connector melted, gonna have to tear the dash apart again soon and replace it.
Any chance I can buy the terminal ends that are in that connector? I would like to replace a couple of mine.

Re: What did you get done 1/15/12 edition
Saturday, my brother and I went on a trip to Daytona Beach and jacksonville to hit up 3 junkyards. Empty handed in Daytona. Purchased a spare ashtray at one yard in Jax, and a wipermotor and a washer reservoir from an 86 at the other. Went there looking for seatbelts.
Also got my seat mounted down lower, to the floor. No stock brackets and no slider. Since my seatbelts are 88+ and I want the correct ones in my 83, no clean ones, or any at the junkyards. Found a place who happens to be in Florida that repairs and builds seatbelts. Going to find out about having the pre 88 tongues put into my belts because mine are very clean. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: What did you get done 1/15/12 edition
Started to replace my front end bushings, shocks. And decided to put on new brakepads while I was at it.
Was in a hurry when I picked up the parts and it was not until I was puting things back together I noticed that I forgot to buy the upper ball joints Orderd a new exhaust system, true dual with cats, mufflers and hangers for 600$ now I need to decide if im going to keep the original manifolds or get a set of ramhorns.

Re: What did you get done 1/15/12 edition
1) Did not watch football - well, only the highlights late in the evening.
2) Finished all minor stuff on my freshly built (350) engine - re-routed EFI harness, installed new temp sending unit, tightened all bolts, etc. Engine (it was broken-in on the engine test stand) fired right away and after full warm up checked for leaks and loose stuff. None were to be found. 3) Went on several test drives which involved EFI tuning and more checking. Wow - throttle response is rather quick & snappy! Have to be careful with loud pedal! 4) Unfortunately, had to park it and spend quality time with OL to keep piece in the house. Next weekend More tuning is ahead as new engine has at least 50 more HP over the tired old mill! Sorry, no photos or videos - did not have the time as weather was closing in. //RF

Got the front end lowered on my new 84, I'm swapping the 10 bolt for a 12 so I didnt have enough time to finish the rear.

Re: What did you get done 1/15/12 edition
Couldn't do anything but surf craigslist (kinda looking for a 6.2L diesel for my shortbed)...we got 6" of snow that day...and more the next and a little more after that and I found out that we will be getting more over the next couple days. All in all there is about 1 foot of snow on my back deck.

Re: What did you get done 1/15/12 edition
Picked up a new bed for the " Brown Hornet ". Traded a buddy of mine in the Marine Corps some old Camaro parts. Almost rust free but, 100% better than the one that is on the truck now

Re: What did you get done 1/15/12 edition
Jranger it's really simple. remove the tailights and tailight housing. Pull the harness out. Take a phillips screwdriver and pull the 3 screws from the fuel filler. Then you just remove the 8 bolts under the frame (4 towards the front of the bed, 4 towards the back) Make sure you have some helping hands to lift the bed off! They can be really heavy towards the front where it meets the cab. |

that would def. be the time to do it. There is so much easy access to everything while the bed is off.
