6 cyl to 8 cyl pics?
I have an org. 6 cyl pickup, converted to 8 cyl... but I think the motor might not be in the right place... seems to be too far back. Anyone have any picts on where the motor SHOULD be in a 2wd 67? I'm worried my new HEI wont fit.

You have the V8 in the I6 location. The stock location for the SB V8 is about 3-4" further forward. You'll need the V8 frame brackets and a longer drive shaft. Can usually pick these up a wrecker.

Hei will fit its tight but you can get it in/out with the cap off. V-8 is better further back, better weight distribution. it would be a lot of messin around just to move it up and you would loose traction. lots have a sb on the 6 mounts.

I put a V8 in the I6 position about a year ago and have been very pleased with the result. It is true that an HEI distributor will fit, but only just. To adjust the timing involved moving the plug wires on the distributor cap. In the end I went with a Mallory points distributor. Much better.
