Fat Tire All Out 60-66 Pro-Street Thread

I want to start a Pro-Street thread for all of us that are taking the big step of Flintstone Fatty Tires in the rear and power plants most dream of in the front...

Anyone have new photos to add of their real for real 60-66 pro-street trucks?
Mine is in literal pieces everywhere inside and outside my house and I need some inspiration.

Here are the motor and bedsides I have to use. Yes I am using 58-59 bedsides on my 63...

I just like being different.

Re: Fat Tire All Out 60-66 Pro-Street Thread

Possibly an interesting story,
I sometimes amaze myself with my own stupidity.
I have these 58/59 bed sides.. I thought for sure they had the same lines as the 63 cab...
So I am out there moving things around in my build area and I have bed sides leaning against the wall and I happened to look over and saw that the bedsides are not even close....

What the was I thinking??????
Not sure where I got the idea they were the same but I was sure full of ... well we all know what I was full of.
Back to the drawing board.

Re: Fat Tire All Out 60-66 Pro-Street Thread

It's been a while since I have posted.
Tomorrow is a big day.
I'm dragging my newly built chassis for my 63 home.
Epoxy sealer ready, chassis black frame paint behind that... excited would be an understatement. ....
I'm going to be building it clean and pretty this time...
It might take longer waiting for paint to dry but once it's done, it's done this time.
My motor is wrapped and patiently waiting...
Photos coming soon...

Went to pick up my newly finished chassis from the media blaster today...
He hadn't even touched it yet.

It was supposed to be done no later than Monday... Last Monday!

So needless to say... no photos of the newly applied frame paint...
Dude!

Re: Fat Tire All Out 60-66 Pro-Street Thread

I'm really stuck on the fence.
I have a blasted and painted stock frame,
and I have the newly finshed "back half" chassis. .
The narrowed chassis is for my 63 Prostreet.. the stock frame is for my 66 shop truck..
I'm selling off all of my extra 60-66 parts and I'm finally getting down to just my 63 and my 66...
I want to put the widest tires I can on the 66 shop truck but I'm not sure I want to cut up the frame.
Does anyone happen to know what the biggest tires are that will fit comfortably under a fleet bed using a 63-66 frame?
I was thinking of running a 295/50/15 or I have a set of 29X15 mickey Thompsons but I'm fairly sure I'll need to narrow the frame...
I'm not sure I want to do that.
Any suggestions? ?

Really?
I've got some 315/35/20's under the rear of mine, along with 2-1/2" exhaust, check my thread...But you need to widen the rear tubs.

Re: Fat Tire All Out 60-66 Pro-Street Thread

The 29 x 15.5 will fit no problem. You should be able to go with the 29 x 18.5 even without modifying the frame. Might have to remove the bumpstop though. Of course that is for a fleetside. The stepside fenders are a little narrower. The other thing to look at is the coil spring clearance.

I'm not using springs on the stock frame.
I'm thinking of using a later static air suspension similar to a Lincoln Navigator. That along with a watts link.
Removing the bump stop would help clearance..
I should have a bed put together by next weekend to get some real time measurements...
The bigger the better is my thought...

I don't know how to compare 20's to 15's but that sounds bigger than the 295/50s I was thinking of using

Re: Fat Tire All Out 60-66 Pro-Street Thread

I've decided to go with mickey thompson sportsman radials.
6650' s 26X8 for the front and the 29X18 6650's for the rear on my 63 prostreet.
I have yet to figure out what I can use on my 66 shop truck.

My big question is. .. where are all the 60-66 Prostreet pickups???
Post some photos fellow Prostreeters!!!

Got a fat tire build going on using MT 29 X 18.5 bias ply's. Will post more pics as soon as I get set up in the new shop and can work on it again. Here's a link http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=625387

Is that a stock frame??? I really like the fat tire look.
I'm using a GMC frame under the shop truck minus the leafs.
should have lots of room.

Re: Fat Tire All Out 60-66 Pro-Street Thread

I have an original 63 GMC frame that I'm doing a leaf to trailing arm conversation on.
I'll be running coil overs and a watts link to keep it up and straight.
I got word yesterday from BF Goodrich that the 295/50/15 tires will be back in production in mid November. This was my original choice for tires on the rear of the shop truck.
I'm running a 3.54 dana 60 and a 700R with 4L70 internals to beef it up and a 360 inch dual quad all Pontiac motor...
with so many builders going with the 22-24 inch slammed a frame/rocker scraping route... I'm trying to do something different, something unique. ..

I'm just waiting for other Prostreet builders to chime in... where are you guys hiding?
Lets see some Prostreet bad boy trucks posted here! :-)
