Dana 44 Hub Lok part name

My 1961 GMC Suburban 4WD has been put out to pasture, it will be driven for fun only. I have another truck for doing work. The latest round of fixing up is intended to keep it as close to original as possible, not factory original, but like it was when it was used. It has Dana Hub Lok locking hubs on it and there is a bushing behind the gear that goes on the outer axle shaft.

Anybody know the name of the this part or the part number?

I looked in the 63 truck shop manual...theres no reference there, but there might have been changes in the 4x4 systems prior to 63.

1963c-10 - Thanks for looking. This is related to another question I have is when locking hubs were available as a factory installed option. I assume the hubs on my truck were dealer installed.

Nothing for sure with these trucks, but a good clue is if you have the hub operating instructions sticker just to the right of the mirror above the windshield then it probably had hubs from the factory. My 65 with the hub option on the build sheet had it there and that's were I have seen most of them. My 64 was a utility fleet truck and had no evidence of ever having that sticker and did not have factory style hubs.Both trucks still had the original X-Fer shift pattern sticker to the left of the mirror.
Don't see many original examples of these trucks around so would be curious what others have seen

No prob, theres a pretty good 4x4 section in the factory manual, but didn't see that part listed. Im sure someone will pipe in to help though.

I have since found out this part is called a "collar" I called a couple of 4WD parts houses that had some used parts, one of them said this part has not been available for many years which isn't surprising. They suggested having a machine shop make one.

One problem with having one made is that it isn't made entirely of bronze, but is bronze encapsulating a steel washer. If anyone knows the part number of this part let me know. Thanks

I have owned 2 K10 trucks, both '65 Suburbans. Both had Hub/Loks and both had the foil label on the header panel. Of course no SPID and neither had any build sheet, but both appeared to be original factory F76 trucks.

Since I haven't found one since I posted this in 2012 and haven't seen a set of replacement lock outs for sale, I stopped at a machine shop and hired them to make one. $150 ouch! I could have driven to other machine shops to see if they would make one for less, but this one had the material to make it so I agreed.

Funny getting a simple part for my trucks hub lock out made for $150 when I paid $56 for my truck in 1978.

In the ad linked for the NOS locking hubs, I don't see the inner cog that the locking outer hub meshes with. The part shown in the middle in first picture of my original post in this thread. If those hubs don't come with those, they wouldn't be usable. Maybe they are under the hubs shown, meshed as if locked in.

There's a Hub Lok on ebay right now, search "dana 44 closed knuckle Lockout Hub" Looks exactly the one on my 66 K20, but looks different than your photos. Maybe it will be of some help, good luck.

I had the machine shop make the collar or bushing to the referenced 2.936" OD, which was too large to fit into my hub. I rigged a way to mount it in my cordless drill and sanded the outside of it with 40 grit sandpaper until it fit into the hub. I had them snug up the ID just a smidge vs the sample good one, assuming some wear. I think they nailed it on the clearance where the inner clutch gear rides in it.

Amazing feeling to have found this broken part about 45 years ago, and finally I have two good collars/bushings. In hindsight, I should have had one made right then. I kind of drug my feet on this option since I thought I would find a replacement or a new set of hubs. Glad I kept these hubs since they were original to the truck.
