69 Camaro super cheap build
ok so heres my last car I have and the one that was going to be and my dads build together but it turns out he passed away and i had to buy it from his estate
the car is rough but not as bad as it looks the car was blasted in about 1980 and left in the building without primer so its surface rust all over the car and some rough scale on the drivers quarter but on the good side its all gm and lower miles so its super tight and where its going is a copo build thats gonna be cheap with a bunch of used parts til i get the money to put very nice parts on the car heres some pics of it now with 14x7 wheels and 215/70/14 tires and dog caps but i also have a 69 396 350 hp motor to put in it and im gonna put the ls6 heads and 198 bbc snowflake intake and th400

Re: 69 Camaro super cheap build
I have a few more pics of the car
Im hoping to get the car completely blasted and in primer on the car but the car is super straight and the floor and trunk pans are awesome so it wont need too much but im looking to put a cowl hood and trunk lid on the car with spoiler and some pics of the motor before I switch the heads out and intake

Re: 69 Camaro super cheap build
Man, I LOVE '69 Camaros. That thing is going to be awesome as a COPO clone. My buddy built an Olympic Gold COPO clone a few years back, and he sold it for gooood money. He's a detail freak, and it was accurate all the way down to the 427/425 horse motor. Not a real COPO, but that meant he could drive it anytime he wanted and not freak out about hurting a priceless musclecar.
Keep posting pictures as you progress!!

What a difference! Looks like a totally different car.
You did all that blasting with your blast pot? That's crazy!

Re: 69 Camaro super cheap build
yeah lol it waqs 7 50lb bags worth and a 200lb pot
it wasnt near as bad as i thought im thinking about getting some slick sand and throwing on a few heavy coats and blocking the car... just the few dent to worry about then i gotta blast the front sheet metal and sub frame... and do inside the trunk so i can put new spatter paint... but this car wont take much I believe the speedo is correct at 26315 cause my nova doors dont shut this nice and the pedals look new and so does the headliner and all the suspension parts... i wanna pull the breaks off to get a better idea... and all the chalk marks are there and ever the coil spring labels!!!!

Re: 69 Camaro super cheap build
Quote:
A BBC with SBC frame stands will mount the engine higher in the subframe. There shouldn't be an issue with the power steering. The biggest issue with using SBC stands with a BBC is the hood clearance. You may have to run a flat Corvette intake to clear the hood. Unless you are going to run a cowl hood, then it'll be fine with a standard-height intake. The manual crossmember will work with an auto. Chevy was brilliant in this regard. They used the same trans mount for autos and manuals, and they drilled numerous holes in the subframe legs to accomodate the different transmissions. With the th400, you'll just have to slide the crossmember back to the next set of holes. It's been a long time since I messed with 67-69s. I want another one really bad.

Love the wheels and caps I need some for my Nova. You should leave it manual and put a rockcrusher or 5 speed in it

Re: 69 Camaro super cheap build
thats what I am talking about 69 camaro. I see that we are not to far away from one another. Nice job and I know you will be proud once it is complete. If you need anything for your car, let me know as I have 3 69s and 1 68. I might have what you need. Is that an original am or am/fm radio in the car?
I have the front clip off of my 69 convertible and detailing it now. It was not that bad to take off. Good luck with yours. Carl |
