Re: Cab clearence lights.....options ?
He didn't have factory lamps, but a friend installed late model Ford ones on his '85 High Sierra K/10 that is now a K/30. He apologized for using Ford stuff...he's as GM as me,but said they look an awful lot like the original GMs and are L.E.D. They do look real close unless you're looking real hard to see a difference. Sorry no pics, but look at Fords and you'll see the ones I mean. It's not like he didn't have originals laying around, either.
Anther thought, using the factory holes, base pads, etc,it to use GM reverse lenses for Stepsides,StepVans, and cab & chassis. The first GM-specific clearance lamps in '69 were amber and known as "Hockey Puck" style lenses. In '70 they changed to the lens used through '91 on Crew Cabs, but still use the same bases, etc. The reverse lens are the exact same lens except clear. They lay lower and are flat on top. Kind of a trick way to go with GM stuff that bolts right on.
