47-55 1st autocross competition capable build?

Has anyone built a truly competitive, streetable, AD build? Curious as to what was used/chosen/done for suspension/frame combinations. Thanks

Have a look at this truck. It might give you some ideas.

WOW! The things I would do if I had my own shop/metal tools. That truck has some of the coolest fab work. I just hope they pick different wheels. LOL

Mine WILL be doing Power tour, Drag week, Chevy shootouts, ect. No autocross due to the weight, but I would LOVE to make one to turn corners. Gut it, make it suitable for street driving, but to the minimum. Make lightweight key, and go big on suspension/drivetrain. Ugghh. Its all dreams!

Rob from no limit could defiantly hook you up with a chassis that would run on rails or the roadster shop chassis with dse front suspension.

yea Rob at No-Limit enginerring built a monster Autocrossing '56 Ford pickup, if anyone knows about building a truck suspension for autocross, he will.

here is a good article on Rob's truck. its amazing, however probably more money then you are thinking about spending... but you may be able to take some tips here and there from it

http://www.truckinweb.com/tech/1104t...dup/index.html

on a side note, I am not sure what year the truck is... it says '56 in the article but the cab is without question 53-55. regardless, nice truck, and the BIG 10 Chassis is a beast

My random thoughts....I would think if you had a Camaro or Firebird clip and rear end you could set them up with same ride height and handling as if they were in the auto but instead of a unibody you would have a full frame. Higher center of gravity would work against you unless you could channel, section and chop the body. engine and trans would be same relationship as the car. Seating a higher. I have heard that the Nascar type truck series bodies are actually better handling and aerodynamic than the cars. Only autocross I did was in a VW in the early 70's.
