Re: vin on engine?
not sure about trucks that old, but my 53 has both a serial number and an engine number on the title. I think as long as the serial number is correct, the engine number doesn't matter. Of course, when I titled my truck they lady behind the counter didn't have a friggin clue what she was looking at, so she basically just made up a new title, set the serial as the "vin" number, and titled it as a 1956 Black Ford p/u - wtf??

Re: vin on engine?
When I bought my 48 in McGregor, Tx the previous owner had gone to the dmv and had the title marked "engine change" and tag on the door post was used as the vin on the title. I wouldn't get rid of the old engine until everything was said and done and the corrected title was in my hand.
I assume that the title is in your name now? if not I would transfer it first and then do the engine change part. No need to offer more info than necessary, just that you are changing engines and want to have the title correct. That's at the DMV office and not the courthouse though. |
