'46/'72 Chevy Hybrid
I have a 1946 Chevy I am getting ready to build. I know it may be viewed as blasphemy by some people, but I am going to try to use the frame and chassis from my '72 C-10 under it. The reason I am posting this is, does anybody have or know where I can get the specifications for the frame on my '72? I also need chassis spec if possible. I have all of the specs for my '46 and I don't think this swap will be too difficult. I will obviously have to fabricate body mounts, but the wheel base and box length are identical. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What are you going to do about the difference in the width of the 2 vehicles?

Re: '46/'72 Chevy Hybrid
That's why I am looking for frame specs for the '72. I need to see what the curb width is. I have a complete chassis in my garage so if I can use it I will. If not I have a '92 S-10 that I can use. The frame will just need to be cut down 7".

Re: '46/'72 Chevy Hybrid
Also my '46 has the rear end out of a '70 C-10 in it and it fit very well. Just had to change to leaf spring perches.

Re: '46/'72 Chevy Hybrid
Folks use S-10 chassis' and put AD (47-55 First series) bodies on them...so, it would seem to me that the 46 you asked about would fit better on the S-10 chassis.

Re: '46/'72 Chevy Hybrid
Thanks, Bruceman. That should help. If the C-10 chassis won't work, the S-10 it is.
