Question 66 c10???

Hey everyone. Great to be here. Have a ton of info to catch up. After 30 yrs of looking, and not being dead broke at the same time, finally found my truck. 66 C10 Fleetside, small window......YES!!!!!!!!!

Finally got this bad boy home and started tearing into the front end to begin the overhaul and fix all the good old classic rust spots..going good and having fun.

Question I ran into though that has me thinkin???????? Title = 1966 Chevy C10....all good. I was looking around just reading up on identifications and such for all the models and came across this in a LMC book.

There's says that in 1966 Fed Regs required seatbelts and reverse lights.
I have the seatbelts..................but I do not have reverse lights????????

Any idea's???? The title wrong???? The truck is all original, never been messed with or touched (hence the overhaul that needs to be done).

Any help much appreciated to figuring this out.

Re: 66 c10???

post pics all around and glove box id plate if possible and you'll get help quick
I believe b/u lights were standard in 66 (1st yr) but don't quote me. If all original, then probably not a replaced bedside(s). This question has come up before and I believe there are some 66's floatinga round out there with no b/u lights.

Re: 66 c10???

It was mostly standard in '66 for reverse/back up lights, but I don't think they were required until '68 or something by some federal highway act( I used to know but can't recall at the moment)... but the makers decided to go ahead and start adding them and be done with it.

Re: 66 c10???

My 66 step has no backup lights and no indication on the fenders of ever having had them but it has the switch on the column. Who know's what's been done to these old trucks over the past 50 years.

BigUgly,
Welcome to the forum. I learned something today when you said you were fixing the classic rust spots. I didn't think rust had been invented in the Las Vegas desert area.

Re: 66 c10???

1966 Was the first year that reverse lamps were standard on GM trucks however, back up lamps were incorporated into FMVSS 108 in 1968 and then mandatory on all vehicles.
