Seatbelt locking problem
Alright so my 76 Scottsdale passenger seatbelt seems to have a problem of locking and not unlocking till its retracted all the way back and it happens every time I turn, give it gas or slight braking.the drivers side doesn't do it at al unless I hit the brakes or hit a bump. I thought of replacing it but the set up I have is way more different then all the trucks I see in the junk yard, all the ones I seen had both pieces of the belt joining to one piece and the one I have has two pieces , it starts on the floor with a retractor and the metal clip piece on the fabric belt that you can pull across your lap but then the part that covers your chest go's to a clip on the back panel and then the belt go's too a second retractor about shoulder height on the back panel. The bottom one is the one that keeps locking the top one is fine and I don't want to replace it with something different looking.I will try to post the pics I took,I tried to take the plastic cover off of the retractor but it's riveted on to it

Re: Seatbelt locking problem
You probably have the same belts that I have in my 77, as I think this style was only used those 2 years. I've attached a couple of pictures for your reference. I actually took the cover off of my driver's side belt to see why the buzzer wasn't working properly. The cover is not to hard to take off. It's held on by two plastic buttons on each side. Lift the little access door up on the back, and then gently pull the cover away from the retractor (pulling towards you if standing outside of the truck), that should pop it loose. I think I did manage to break one of the tabs on the one button, but it still stays in place okay. My driver's side locks frequently like you describe, but I'm not sure about the passenger side. I did clean it out really good, and it seems to be a little better, but I'm not sure what is normal for these style of belts.

Re: Seatbelt locking problem
That's the exact one I have but black and the cover I got has a rivet holding it on, I unbolted it and tried to find out how to take it off and found the rivet and I could see where it was riveted to the metal, *possibly done by last owner* I put a bit of dw40 on the coil spring that I could see and on some of the moving pieces I could see and it felt a bit better but I have to go for a drive to test it, and there's no insurance so that might be a week or so, thank you tho
