k5 quarter panel replacement?

hey guys new member here and im also another proud owner of a 1972 blazer

coming soon i am planing on replaceing the pass quarter and they are impossable to find.now ive read the post to cut 6 inches off a short bed side and it will work? now my question to you is how do you match your panel behind the door with out the pre bent lip? and in this process how do you not mess up your body line with the top off? i have good body mounts and decent rocker boxes and all but still dont feel that it will sit right 100% with out the top. can anybody that have done this give me some good advise/tips?

Re: k5 quarter panel replacement?

If you do a search, VT Blazer did a write up on how to use a truck bed as a replacement on a Blazer. It was several years ago, so you may have to dig deep.

I wish we had a better search function. Makes it hard to find stuff sometimes when it won't accept certain key words and it only shows 100 threads.

Search works fine. Searched "bed side" in threads started by VTBlazer. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=360248

Never said that search doesn't work. I said I wish that it worked better.

Re: k5 quarter panel replacement?

When I did the bedside swap, I didn't think to get detailed and do a "how to" on it. Now I wish I would have. I will try to go back and give a more detailed description, with the few pics that I took of it. How soon untill you are ready to replace yours? I'll post something up this weekend.
