Bringing Home the 66 Custom Camper!
Just officially became the registered owner of my dad's 1966 C20 Custom Camper which has 105k orig miles and was purchased by him in 1969. This is vehicle I learned to drive on and used for most of my high school-college years. I will be making the 400 mile drive home on Friday but here she is!
327 V8 Stock The only rust damage Fenders and some on the front right roof The entire bottom side of the cab looks just like this! Beautiful! side profiles: Driver side door is damaged from small fender bender when i was 16 Some paper work: I have both Flags for the side of the cab and also have both the C20 fender emblems, I only need to replace the drivers side trim package. Gunna be a fun project! Goal is to go completely stock looking but with a LSX engine and 4l60 under it! Already have a GM 14 bolt with 3.73s and Posi unit ready for install! Re: Bringing Home the 66 Custom Camper!
Looks like a pretty solid truck
And yet another truck with family history, staying in the family Looks like your daughter has her own idea of who's truck this really is..... If you need the trailing arm mounts for the 14 bolt let me know.

Re: Bringing Home the 66 Custom Camper!
That's cool to keep it in the family but it sounds like you need a burb with three row seating.

That's great you got a truck that's been in the family. What are your plans?

Re: Bringing Home the 66 Custom Camper!
Quote:
The instructions said to raise the vehicle 36" off the ground, well while not necessary would have made the job ten times easier not laying on the ground lol! We also put back up the second saddle tank so I could have more mileage available between fillups on the drive home. Future projects: Installing a GM 14 Bolt w/ 3.73s and POSI, it's sitting in my driveway ready for install (using CaptianFabs mounts) Need to tackle the few rust damaged spots and lay down a good coat of primer/sealer to protect the body till I can afford a real paint job. Some day it will get a LSX motor swap with a newer elec shift auto trans such as a 4l60 or 80. Swapping in a earlier xmember with disk brakes, upgraded to true power steering (currently has "power assist") and Power brakes Otherwise will be "refurbished" to look mostly stock |

Awesome, Ozzy. I look forward to seeing that one at some of the Nor Cal gatherings that the C/10 club will be having.
