I picked these up at a small rural salvage yard. The guy said he gets old grain trucks in every couple of months with them in and doesn't save them. He is going to start saving them for me....

I'm not sure what the deal is on the tach/vac one. It looks stock from the back but the tach part of the lens doesn't have numbers on it. Someone put small labels on it. Maybe the tach was added and they couldn't find a tach/vac lens.

The best one is going in the Red & White '70. I may try to restore the tach/vac one.

I will use the bell housing on the '34 Ford when I put the 5 speed in it.

The '34 is chopped 3 1/2", has a ford 9" rear, a 377 stroker motor and I am putting a Jeep AX-15 five speed overdrive trans in it.

I think you nailed it on the first dash having tach added. Maybe they just didn't think to grab the lens cuz they didn't know better. The first tach dash I ever found in a medium duty I didn't know better. I took the tach and lens...that's it! Later I kicked myself in the butt for not just tacking the whole dang thing. It was a vacuum dash,too. I didn't even care about that,just wanted the tach.

What did the bell housing come from. I'm trying to learn something here. Did it by chance come from the big truck,or was it from a car? Wondering if any trucks ever came with aluminum bell housings. I have one for my '67 I'm using an M22 in (rear trans mount/auto cross member)

The piece of paper stuck in the bell housing is a list of applications. I will double check it, I think they were all cars.

On a recent cross country trip, we stopped at a yard along the interstate where they had crushed a 4x4 with locking hubs 30mins before we got there. I think I'm going to send them pics and prices and postage paid boxes for the factory lockout hubs. Its ridiculous but I'm sure theyve crushed tilts and towhooks also.

Not a problem... Go to the top of this page and type "MoonEyes Decal" into the Google search box and click on the "Google" button. Actually those were on there when I bought the car but you should be able to find a few different ones with Google. You can also type "Mooneyes" into an e-Bay search box and get a lot of hits.

Thanks Leon. I asked because I was wondering if that came out of the medium duty truck. Kinda thought it unlikely,since all the pickup bell housings are iron. I figured they were car-only but never knew for sure. I've had guys ask,"Why would you want an aluminum one in a truck?" Well,first of all this truck will be my car that I can haul a little in if I want to. Why put a 4spd out of a '65 GTO in a truck?...Right? I paid $35 for mine painted nice and orange. It's fun how the numbers game works. If the numbers are for a big block Vette they can cost 10x what I paid. At swap meets I see anything from $40 to $300+,some grimy for more,some pretty for less. They all look the same to me. I just want something to hold the back of my motor up,front of my trans up,and keep my clutch all dry and cozy.

Nothin' says hot rod like Moon Eyes lookin' at the front tire. Well,that or Clay Smith's Mr. Horsepower. I'm younger and it was car models I put them on. I used to call him the mad woodpecker. I used to take the Moon Eyes and cut them apart to make them cross eyed or one up and one down. Gee I was such a creative kid

Something tells me you plan one some decent trips in that Coupe.

We are pretty lucky up here, most of the yards won't crush them untill they are stripped pretty bare, which doesn't take long.

For a 3/4 ton that thing drives like a dream. Wife and I drove it to Kansas City last September to the All Truck Nationals... 500 miles round trip. She even likes driving it.
