big block tbi help!!!
i know there are several posts about this topic but i didnt want to highjack someone elses thread and their questions werent really related to mine, with that being said
i found a 454 tbi for 1000 bucks and i can take everything i need, ecm, wiring harness, rad etc my truck had a 350 with th350 combo with the motor mount bolts that go into the middle from the bottom not through the sides, im wondering if i should get the engine mount stands from the truck the motor is in (its a 91-93 cant rememer for sure) or if theyd work, or some from a 73 to 87 model also should i use my th350 that was in my truck i have a shift kit and high stall torque converter for it, just not sure what trans combo to use i dont want to hve to mess with my drive shaft much, meaning i dont want to have to make it shorter thanks for all your your help/input in advance |

Re: big block tbi help!!!
I think the motor mounts from the squares from 73 to 87 would be the way tro go in this case. You should not have any problems running the TH350 behind the 454, lots do it and lets be real honest here the TBI 454 is not exactly know for monster levels of power. The General had them really hog tied as far as performance goes with the peanut ports low compressin and small camshaft. I will tell you the the factory timing setting on thses trucks are a little low. I have had several or these trucks With the TBI 454 and if you give them more time they will wake up and make the most of it.

Re: big block tbi help!!!
doesnt sound like the 454 is the way to go then, i want to have some power but nothing crazy im just building this truck to sell, my uncle has a 89 chev he just put a rebuilt 350 in it and it isnt even broken in yet
i could probably pick it up for 1200 bucks and put a cam in it maybe and make some of my money back selling the 700r4 and the truck body |

Re: big block tbi help!!!
Now don't let me talk you out of a big block in your truck. They are indeed awesome if nothing else but the eye appeal it gives when you look under the hood. I didn't mean to mislead you on the power aspect either it will have more than a comparable small block. You were saying add a cam to a small to up the power and the sound[ a good sounding truck will help it sell] well do that to a 454 and you can add quite a bit more power.I have a 68 GMC that was a bigblock that I'm changing back to a big with a 454 and I have a 70 that I will be changing cause I have the stuff and like I said the eyeball that the big-block brings. So I appolgize if I discourage your plans I did'nt intend to

Re: big block tbi help!!!
no worries i was looking for opinions, i was actually thinking about selling the truck to buy a chevelle, but i dont have one lined up but i do have a short box lined up to swap my cab, small block, and lowering kit onto, im thinking if i go the route of the chevelle i may regret it in the future
