Steering issues pleas help.
Anyone running 3" monos and 3" drop axle? My drag link hits the axle way before I hit the steering stop. What have you done to correct this problem.

Re: Steering issues pleas help.
You can get another arm and bolt it to the top.
Heat and bend the arm into position that clears the bean. lop off the front arm part of the original and the rear arm part of the new top one. So you end up with a lower with no front arm and an upper with no rear arm. Leave both arms intact until you get the upper arm bent correctly. |

Re: Steering issues pleas help.
Most likely you would have a bit of bump steer. Can you heat and bend the stock steering arm up just enough to get clearance? It may only take moving it a half inch or so along with repositioning the adjustment sleeve so that the bolts are at the top and out of the way. I'd have to go look under my truck but I believe that on a stock steering the end of the drag link is on top of the steering arm rather than below it. I think that may be your real problem that was created in an attempt to get the drag link level.

Re: Steering issues pleas help.
If you were to convert to power steering it would be relatively simple as most aftermarket suppliers sell pitman arms for dropped trucks.
But I'd guess there's no reason you can't follow the same kind of principle and keep a manual box. |
