Flames test -- any suggestions?
I'm test fitting flames on the truck so I can start working on the new fenders. My objectives are thin/streamlined scallops and not too "heavy" on the front of the truck (so as not to unbalance the stepside visual front/rear weighting.
This is my first layout. Is it too subtle? Does it need to stretch onto the door? Or is this just right? Truck will be an electric blue (like early '70s Mach I) and flames will either be a subtle ghost or will be white to yellow to orange to red neon colors (for those of you who've seen Troy Lee Designs helmets in person, these are the colors I'm talking about. I've used them on a number of projects over the years and they are absolutely the brightest paint colors available. Unfortunately, computer monitors (and even photographs) can't handle the intensity of the color... you just have to see them in person. Kenneth

They look cool, but i may put a flame lower on the front fender towards the bumper area

Oh, and the part on the front is just the end of my paper. It's not intended to be how the front of the flames end. They would be blended up to the front edge of the fender.

Are you going to do ghost flames or regular flames. What color??
I agree with lowering them a little on the fender, but otherwise I think they look great. Nice streamilne look!!

I like that style. It's similar to what Bobby Alloway puts on his street rods. It would look good lenghtened into the door.

How about extending it onto the door a little and then another set (same size or smaller) just behind the front wheel extending a little further onto the door than the upper set?

yeah, a little too subtle and light in my opinion. maybe if the flames were coming off the top of the wheel wells and went in the door as well... yeah, I like that idea.

i'd say stretch the long licks back to about half to three quarters of the way into the door and maybe add another shorter lick in front of the wheel well to draw the colour down. as it is it looks cool, but kinda like a decal you buy from jc whitney, sizewise. otherwise want some more work?

Thanks for all the comments. I think I do need to add something a little lower and just see what it looks like when stretched back to the door. But (no offense to the owner) I don't want it to look this solid in the front...

No Kenneth, Keep it just as you have it. I've never seen the TLD helmet, but I'd love that ghost flame in say, a Electric Blue like on new Prelude's. With a slighly sky blue flame. As long as that flame does blend into the front fender very well. Love that setup. It just made me think and get so Inspired. Thanks.
