Where's spare with relocated gas tank?
If the gas tank is relocated from behind the seat to the rear between the frame rails, like Suburbans, where is the best place for the spare on a short wide 67-72?

Carry a can of "fix a flat", chances are it'll get you home.

Spare what?
Fix-A-Flat, and if that doesn't work, Sprint PCS.

I've heard of using the mini spares that are on 5x5 bolt patterns and placing it behind the seat where the tank used to be. I think there was a few Lincolns and Cads that had the same bolt pattern and came with the small spare. Wouldn't be of much use if you had a load on you truck but you might be able to limp along till you find a repair station.

So what is a "spare tire" anyway? Hope you're friends with a tow truck driver.

Cell phone and a roadside assistance membership. Go through your insurance company, it's cheaper.

chain it up in your bed because if you dont it will get stolen like mine did and a full size spare is not cheap

Truck bed spare tire mounts are available. Looking at ad from Acme Truck parts www.acmetruckparts.com . They come in two styles, flat mount for $74.95 and angle mount (like the off-road racers) for $149.95 in blue or black. Easy design to copy if your handy with metal work. Good luck, Scott

yep mine is riding around in the back of the truck.:p but here lately I was thinking why is it still back there? I have no jack or tire iron in the truck. But we have AAA road side assistance.

temporary spare
That is a good idea - using a 5X5 temporary spare from a lincoln or something else. Would take up a lot less room in the truck bed. Usually don't carry anything back there anyway so I could at least probably limp to the nearest tire fix-it shop. Thanks for the idea.

If you are feeling adventurous you can chop a hole in your deck somewhere and sink a wheel well tub (open face closed off w/ sheet metal) upside-down. Bolt it to the deck and make sure you drill a drain hole.
