79 CC to short stepside. slow, leisurely build
im going to take my time with this truck since i am helping some one get theres together and i already have a truck to drive. hopefully it wil be done by the time summer hits. so like july . I love long bed crew cabs but i also think it would be awesome to have something that never came out of the factory. i think it would realy turn some heads of the people who know these trucks. later on down the road i might throw haft ton parts under it.
i bought these beds about a week ago. the black one that isnt together is in much better shape but the coppery orange one is the stock color and nearly been worked to death just like the truck its going on this is the crew cab, i have started taking it appart. 4 out of 8 of the bed bolts will have to be removed with a grinder.

Re: 79 CC to short stepside. slow, leisurely build
progress report
I ground out two frozen carriage bolts that hold the bed on, then i got too hot and had some ice cream. its a blazing 70* out there. something like 21*ish for our canadian brothers

Re: 79 CC to short stepside. slow, leisurely build
i dont even have to go outside to get pictures. got the 20 year old headers off. they cant seal because of all the rust. also grabbed a hood, it almost matches the bed

Re: 79 CC to short stepside. slow, leisurely build
scored a shortbed tank and a new front seat. all those years of fat construction workers sitting in it really flattened it

cool. I like the idea of what you are planning. Crew cab with a step-side. Any Idea what color you want to paint it?

Re: 79 CC to short stepside. slow, leisurely build
You know I have never really like the idea of a crew-cab with a short bed, but I like the short step-side on it. I guess after seeing this stuff all the time on here it grows on you a little. Next thing someone will have to do is a crew-cab long step-side. Anyways cool build I'll be watching this one good luck. Also is your truck a Chevrolet or a GMC? Isn't the Sierra Grande a GMC truck or am I just really confusing myself?

Re: 79 CC to short stepside. slow, leisurely build
Yeah it was hard to tell because the rest of the badging on it was Chevrolet, though maybe you just swapped out a front fender or something.

Re: 79 CC to short stepside. slow, leisurely build
Cory,
Have a question about the stepside in the BackGround Do you have some more photos with those wheels, also what type of suspension drop did you use. I am starting a 74 Stepside project and the stance and wheels in that pic looked to be right about what I'm shooting for. I'm a Chevelle guy, new to the truck hobby so any help would be appreciated. Thanks Rob |
