cruise control components
Does anyone know where cruise modules and other components for the mid 80s trucks might be sold or rebuilt?

Re: cruise control components
Standard Motor Products sells replacement circuit boards. I could not find one for my 83, so I emailed them and got a response from someone at SMP who said he thought they could rebuild mine. At the time (2010) I emailed David Goldstein at SMP (dgoldstein@smpcorp.com). Since I could not find my part in any of the catalogs (nor could he) this is what he emailed me:
Our rebuild center says they believe they can rebuild this cruise module - they cannot guarantee it can be rebuilt, but they have done similar modules. If you cannot find another source for this unit, it is certainly worth a try. You would have to send it in through a store that deals with us. If you need help finding one, just tell me. I will see what I can do I decided to forget it. If I get serious about cruise control again I think I will just buy a Rastra electronic unit and have a professional install it. This stock vacuum cruise is just to quirky for me. I have checked everything in my system and I am down to the circuit board or the turn signal cruise lever - replacing those would cost more than a new system from Rastra ($400+) |

Re: cruise control components
I had my cruise control unit rebuilt on my 79 and simply went through the GM dealer. They had units there ready to go on an exchange basis.

Re: cruise control components
Rockauto would be the place I'd look. They had cruise control parts for my '77.
