1967-72 Brake booster
I have a '71 C10 with manual disc brakes in front/ drum rear. A friend offered to sell me a brand new booster from a '70 C10 he sold that had drums all around.
Can I use it and if so, what type of MC and propporiotning valve do I need. Thanks |

Re: 1967-72 Brake booster
'67-'70 drum brake trucks use a Bendix booster, '71-'72 disc brake trucks use a Delco Moraine booster. They do not interchange, the brackets and master cylinder is different.

Re: 1967-72 Brake booster
hmmm.. I do believe it will work. I'm pretty sure I've used boosters from different years on my trucks and they all fit.
You can use your own master cylinder and proportioning valve but will need all of the extra stuff like booster bracket and linkage. Hopefully he kept everything from the brake pedal pushrod forward otherwise you will have to look for those parts. Move the m. c. forward as far as you can without over stretching the lines to get the bracket mounted. |

Re: 1967-72 Brake booster
OK....consensus of opinion is I might be able to use a ('67-"72 drum brake booster) on a '71 disc/drum car..?? Right?
Can I then use my new manual MC with it or do I need to get a MC made for Power Brakes? Is the proportioning valve different for a PB setup than a manual? Thanks for all your help. |
