GMC V-6 casting number help

I just pulled the V-6 from my 67 GMC and was hoping to gather a little info on it but I cannot find any casting info online. Hoping someone here can help.

Casting number is 2476575. Above that appears to be CWC4 but it is tough to read.

Anyone...??

Hey 70,

Not sure what you mean by the "ttt" but I see it on here often. What does it mean? I am sure it is so obvious that I will feel stupid once you tell me.

Thanks,

Erik

Means "to the top" It will keep your thread up there towards the top.
Maybe run the numbers on the 60-66 site. They should know over there.
Eric

Re: GMC V-6 casting number help

Thanks for the info Eric.

I am really suprised there is not much info on these motors online. If I run the casting number from my small block 350 there are pages on them as far as build dates, what they were in originally, etc...

Re: GMC V-6 casting number help

For starters, 'CWC' stands for Campbell, Wyant, and Cannon Foundry:

http://www.cwctextron.com/history.html

You will see that cast in many engine blocks to this day. CWC is a major suppier of castings to all the major auto manufacturers. I have even seen the CWC mark on Mack diesel blocks.

I can't ID your block from that casting number. The finished part numbers of GMC V-6 blocks used in pickups are 2482478 for the 305E, and 2484685 for the 351E. Take a look in front of the right (passenger side) cylinder head and just below the head there should be some numbers stamped into the block. The numbers will start with the engine model number (305E or 351E) and follow with a date code. 'E' basically ment light duty engine in '67. That's really all you need to know.

Aside from the different sizes (305, 351, 401, 478), there was not a lot of different versions of the GMC V-6's, like there was for Chevy Small Blocks.

Re: GMC V-6 casting number help

Hey Erik,

Not sure what the number means, but this was on my 401M that I got. I have asked on the 6066 site, but they are stumped as well.
