Re: Heater delete plate?

There are aftermarket one on Ebay, but finding a factory original heater delete plate for the engine comparment is one of the Holy Grails of the 67-72 C-10 world.

Re: Heater delete plate?

Best bet would be on a truck that originally went to Hawaii. That was about the time that heaters became standard equipment rather than an option so a delete plate will be hard to find.

Re: Heater delete plate?

Why is it people would even want to delete the heater? I live in the desert and 50*F temp shift during the course of the day happens a lot. We might see a wind chill down to low teens and a high of 110*. But I see people living in snow country wanting these plates. No heater, no defroster, no forced air with only windows and floor vents. Sounds like no fun!

Re: Heater delete plate?

After you live around here for awhile you get use to the cold! I'm actually not putting in a heater or ac in my truck. I'll just wear a jacket or no shirt depending on the weather lol. I would love to find a heater delete plate for the dash!

Re: Heater delete plate?

Not convinced, as a kid I lived in some cold places to. Where a full bottle of coke would freeze and shatter when left one in the truck seat overnight (bad day that was) and of course opening the windows to let the heat in after a long cold soak night. Is your truck a DD? What about a defrost/defogger?

Re: Heater delete plate?

Most want the delete plate to ease the process of shaving the firewall.
Most aftermarket A/C-heater units are way more efficient than the oem stuff.
Plus they look cool. (my opinion)

But they are SUPER rare.

Is that the GM delete panels? I have only seen them in my assembly manual. Looks pretty cool !

I am "shaving" my firewall including the heater box/blower hole because:

1- It is a huge eye sore under the hood
2- My heater box is trash already
3- Will be adding a vintage air in the future...

Re: Heater delete plate?

It was my DD a couple years ago. It sucked in the winter driving 30 miles to school. My heater didn't work that well either, it would actually fog up the windows from the inside of the cab. So I was driving on interstate with one hand on the wheel and the other hand using an ice scraper on the inside of my windshield so I could see. Looking back, it was very dangerous! I'm lucky I or anyone else didn't get in an accident.

As far as a defroster, no I'm not going to put one of those in either.

Re: Heater delete plate?

Too funny! Ok I understand your points. I to at one time wanted the heater delete plate set for my '69 Camaro. But then the more I thought about it the better the idea seemed to leave the heater in. The $400 price they were fetching at the time affected it as well.

Re: Heater delete plate?

I found this truck today on Craigslist.
http://stlouis.craigslist.org/cto/3299746089.html

Notice the rare "heater delete" plate with the hose connections drilled into it?
They are out there and people don't even know how rare they are.

That is a travesty! Like many others, I am looking for one of these plates and that picture hurts my head!

Anyway, I know a guy who frequents this forum who speaks of the existence of a reproduction panel. I am currently waiting to see if they choose to build any in the near future. I'll let you all know if it comes true.
