worn out front end at 28k?
Got the freebie C60 around out of the grass this morning to work on the brakes. We are gonna use this truck to haul off our scrap metal from the wrecks we build andd boy does it pile up quickly. When my bro-in-law gave me the truck[plus my sister gave me 300 to move it!] the brakes were soft from setting in the barn as they will do. So I have decided to add a 2 circut master cylinder and rebuild all 6 of the w/c's and new rubber brake lines as well. We jacked the truck up and the rh front wheel was just a floppin. the king pins are worn oput. The truck has only 28,300 miles and I think that is a little low miles for that to be worn. any thoughts as to why or ideas why?

might be as far as miles, but what kind of load was it pulling on those miles and where was it driving?

Sounds like it was either beaten silly, or the odometer may have gone around once or twice.

Re: worn out front end at 28k?
Nope original miles@ 28k my bro in law bought it new and had been in his hands the whole time the truck was used to haul grain to the grainery from his farm about 7 miles round trip. It has like a 16 ft grain/dump bed that still dumps as it should. It will be perfect to do what I want to do with it. I have another C60 project in mind but it is a 70 model big dually type truck

The kingpins being worn would be an indication it did alot of steering. And with a loaded bed of grain, that make sense. Maybe alot of jockying into position to get loaded/unloaded? I dunno just my guess.

Re: worn out front end at 28k?
Very true. Some vehicles can show low miles on the odometer, but can be worn out physically. That truck probably stayed close to home and did most of it's work there on the farm. I work for a large aerospace company, and we have a few trucks that we use on the flightline for launch support. Most of them are 2008 models, and they have about 25K miles on them, but you wouldn't know it by looking at them. We do a lot of short distances pulling heavy loads and make tight turns at low speeds. It kills the front tires and the suspension. Imagine pulling a heavy load and having the wheels turned at almost full-lock. That'll wear out a ball-joint, or a kingpin in your case, in a hurry.
