Anyone cut a longbed to shortbed with a wood floor

I've read several longbed to shortbed with steel floor, and actually had good success doing the conversion with a steel floor, but I cant seem to find a thread on a wood floor. Im curious if the process is different because of the different cross sill's, and bolting pattern
Any help appreciated

Re: Anyone cut a longbed to shortbed with a wood floor

Like to see a thread on wood fleetside mods. myself. These links have a lot of wood bed info. I'd imagine that once the sides were reduced down to the 6.5' it should assemble up with new strips/wood just like a factory bed.

Re: Anyone cut a longbed to shortbed with a wood floor

I'm building a shortbed using short bedside and long floor supports. I just have more supports than I need. The wood and bed strips will be new shortbed stuff. If you're wondering about using longbed wood and strips, the holes will be in the wrong places.

Re: Anyone cut a longbed to shortbed with a wood floor

I have a wood floor bed that I planed to put on short sides and use all but one cross sill and get new strips and wood for a short bed. That was my plan but the last truck I had come in has the nicest steel floor I have seen in some time [on just a cheap regular truck, not a showpiece]

Nah, the wood & strips are toast. More interested if the cut pattern would change so the supports wood line up for the new wood/strips. Honestly I haven't even visually compared the metal versus wood floor supports. I found a wood longbed with beautiful sides, and contemplating whether I should pick it up today

Another problem you will have is the body line on the long bed. It will take some good metal work to make the body line "correct".

I didn't have a problem doing the cut on this steel bed, it lined up fine

You didn't have to work the rear? It starts high and sweeps down. I don't need to tell you that, you have done it. Was there an easy fix to get it to line up?

Very minor feathering at the top, maybe an hour for both sides
Add: used a stud welder
