68 power steering box upgrade issue
I have a 68 with manual steering and installed a 74 power gear box. Seems like the center of the box is hitting the frame and and the rear two bolt mounts have a 1/4 gap between the box and the frame because of this. Is this normal? Should I space the box out with washers to clear the frame?

It sounds like you might have a frame without a dimple. This thread might help:

Re: 68 power steering box upgrade issue
Mine has a slight indentation but not enough so I used washer as spacers on my 68 GMC. Some people say that this will cause the gearbox to leak but mine seems to be okay. If it does start to leak, it's easy enough to replace the seal.
If yours has the early or a 67 frame that is completely straight, you will have to probably do what others have done and either notch it or use a torch to beat the metal in so it will clear. |

Don't do anything to the frame!
Just hit up Captainfab for an adapter. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=375640

Whats the difference between using a few washers and the captain fab bracket? the bracket is just a spacer.

Re: 68 power steering box upgrade issue
Here's a couple of pics of what mine looks like with the washers. Notice the slight indentation of the frame. If yours is completely straight you would have to use more washers therefore less stability. The bracket would look more professional and be more stable.
