Black or White? Opinions
I thought about selling this truck but it is so rare and cool that I just couldn't part with it so it's time to start laying out my 67 C20 Slant Back restore. Plans are to do a full frame off and add disk brakes up front. I have all the pieces including all solid oem sheet metal (the cab is already in the body shop). I will be showing this setup with my super patina 67 short stepper rat rod on the back.
The SPID shows special paint but we're not sure what color it was yet, it shows orange under the black. I intend to paint it either Black or White with the obligitory "Speedway Salvage" graphics. Keep in mind the rat rod is going to be clear coat over the patina. So....what do you all think.

Re: Black or White? Opinions
I say white, because it's a heck of a lot easier to keep clean, and that's a lot of keepin clean.

Re: Black or White? Opinions
The sheet metal will be straight so Black would work, and I really like the "Road Warrior" look it has now. It will be wearing full CST trim also...
This Black one is very cool!

Re: Black or White? Opinions
Ok, I'm gonna throw this out there - if original was orange - that would be AWESOME...
Think: something akin to the bright red or yellow Mongoose/Snake haulers! Ok, that's off my chest. For Black/White - I think I'd have to go with white - to me that's just how I picture the old slantbacks back in the day. Graphics will stand out better if you add them as you mentioned. Between the Black and White ones you posted, the white is just plain cool, all business. But, they both look great. What a great project this thing will be - glad you didn't get rid of it. |

Re: Black or White? Opinions
Your right about the orange if it was factory, we'll know when we blow it apart. I bought this close to Daytona and not too far from Gainesville, both racing towns back in the day (and today) but have not found much history on it. It was purpose built though and is very cool.

Re: Black or White? Opinions
Here is another white CST...
I'm leaning towards gloss black and chrome...

Re: Black or White? Opinions
Thats definately a factor and I won't be adding A/C right away as it didn't come with it. If whoever drove it back in the day could tough it out then so can I. (but I'll probably sneak a vintage air unit into it someday. It does get hotter then 7 hells here in the summer.)

Re: Black or White? Opinions
Actually I like the orange. Adding a white top would really set off the CST trim on the cab. Or actually all three work too. Orange and white with a black bed lettered up with orange and white. Orange wheels maybe too. Photoshop time!

Re: Black or White? Opinions
WHITE! The white ones just remind me of 1960s drag racing. Although Dyno Don had a red mid 60s Chevy Hauler (I think), or was it orange. Did I say paint it white? Oh good I did
